Blue Origin, the space company owned by American billionaire Jeff Bezos and Amazon’s chairman, successfully launched its new rocket called New Glenn.

This 98-meter rocket, named after John Glenn, the first American astronaut to orbit Earth, departed from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida toward Earth’s orbit.

The ultimate mission of New Glenn is to carry two NASA spacecraft destined for Mars, which will place NASA satellites in Mars orbit after 22 months.

These satellites are tasked with collecting data about the atmosphere and evaluating the impact of high-energy solar waves on Mars’ magnetic field.

Although the rocket reached orbit successfully, its first stage, which was supposed to land on a platform in the Atlantic Ocean, failed in this attempt.

The company, founded in 2000, plans to use New Glenn to transport dozens of satellites for private and government customers to orbit.
