Ayesha Wahab, an Afghan-American and former Hayward City Council member, has officially started her role as a California State Senator.
Proud of her Afghan immigrant roots, she emphasized that hard work led her to this achievement.
Wahab is the first Afghan-American woman elected to this position and hopes to serve the country through her new role.
She previously represented the Asian-American and Latino majority in Hayward and focused on affordable housing, small business support, and accessible insurance during her campaign.
