The Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack has stated that authoritarian regimes and non-state armed groups deprive women and girls of education through violence and intimidation.
The coalition emphasized that the systematic exclusion of Afghan women from education and public life is a clear example of institutionalized gender oppression.
According to the coalition’s latest report, over 600 million women and girls live near conflict zones, facing challenges such as deliberate attacks on schools and universities, military use of educational facilities, and threats during commutes.
The organization warns that depriving girls of education leads to increased child marriage, intergenerational poverty, and the loss of future teachers, doctors, and leaders, stressing that Afghanistan is the most prominent example of this oppression.
