Pakistani officials announced on Tuesday that gunmen attacked a security checkpoint in Kurram, northwest Pakistan near the Afghan border, killing six soldiers.

No group has claimed responsibility so far. Islamabad blames the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) for the attack and alleges the group plans its operations from Afghan soil.

Kabul denies these accusations, insisting that Pakistan’s security issues are internal. The mountainous border areas remain a hotspot for TTP activity.

Despite three rounds of peace talks hosted by Qatar, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia, no lasting agreement has been reached and violence along the border continues.
