Leaked documents reveal that the Taliban’s Ministry of Education has eliminated 291 positions in Nangarhar province.
The cuts specifically target “trustees” (Motamids) responsible for cash and supplies across all districts of the province.
According to the directive, these employees will be removed from the payroll effective late December (1st of Jadi).
This mass layoff comes at a time of severe economic hardship, leaving hundreds of families without an income source.
The Ministry has not publicly justified the sudden reduction in staff.
The move raises questions about how financial and logistical assets will be managed in the province’s educational institutions moving forward.
