The Ministry of Public Works has announced that the Salang Pass remains open to traffic despite ongoing snowfall.

Maintenance teams are actively working on the ground to clear the road and ensure that vehicles can pass through this critical artery connecting Kabul to the north.

Ministry spokesperson Mohammad Ashraf Haqshanas urged all travelers and drivers to be prepared with winter equipment, including tire chains and warm clothing.

He emphasized the need for caution while navigating the mountainous route to prevent accidents during these icy conditions.

The Salang Pass is a vital economic and transport link for Afghanistan, often facing severe weather challenges in winter.

Keeping it operational is a priority for authorities to maintain the flow of goods and passengers, requiring constant monitoring and snow-clearing efforts.
