Daoud Naji, head of the Afghanistan Freedom Front’s political committee, stated that the Taliban regime lacks legitimacy and therefore has no right to extract the nation’s mines and natural resources.
He noted that this lack of legitimacy is precisely why global powers have frozen the country’s foreign currency reserves.
Naji pointed to recent protests in Takhar and Badakhshan, where locals rallied against the reckless mining by Taliban-affiliated companies.
Reports indicate that the Taliban responded to these demonstrations with violence, firing upon protesters to suppress dissent.
Opposition figures argue that the illegal extraction and looting of natural resources by the Taliban serve only the group’s interests, offering no benefit to the public.
This exploitation has sparked widespread anger in northeastern provinces, where communities watch their local wealth being plundered.
