White House trade advisor Peter Navarro once again criticized India over Russian oil purchases, claiming “Brahmins are profiteering at the expense of the Indian people.
” He described India as “nothing but a laundromat for the Kremlin” while defending Trump’s 50% tariffs on Indian goods.
Navarro explained that Russian refiners partnered with big oil companies in India, with Putin offering Modi discounts on crude oil.
India refines this oil and exports it to Europe, Africa and Asia at high premiums, making substantial profits.
He said this process fuels Russia’s war machine.
While calling Modi a “great leader,” Navarro said he doesn’t understand why he cooperates with Putin and Xi Jinping when he leads the “biggest democracy in the world.”
Indian officials have defended Russian oil purchases, stating decisions are guided by national security imperatives and strategic assessments.
