The Taliban Supreme Court has announced the public flogging of 12 individuals in Parwan province.
The sentences were carried out today, Monday, January 5, after the accused were convicted of using and trafficking narcotics .
According to the court statement, each individual received between 10 and 15 lashes.
Public corporal punishment remains a hallmark of the Taliban’s judicial approach, despite widespread international criticism .
Human rights organizations and the United Nations have repeatedly condemned these practices as cruel and degrading. Nevertheless, the Taliban continue to enforce such punishments as part of their interpretation of Sharia law .
