Afghanistan remains the only country banning girls’ education on this International Day of Education
Today marks the International Day of Education, yet Afghanistan stands alone as the only country on Earth where girls are legally banned from learning. While the global community celebrates academic progress and the power of knowledge, Afghan girls face a deepening crisis of exclusion and silence. It has been exactly 1,589 days since teenage girls were barred from secondary schools and 1,129 days since women were shut out of universities by the Taliban . These staggering numbers represent lost potential, crushed dreams, and a generation being systematically erased from public life. Education is a fundamental human right, not a privilege to be granted or revoked. Denying access to knowledge is a grave injustice that darkens the future of the entire nation. Every day this ban continues is a tragedy, and the world must not forget the plight of Afghan women and girls. At Zarin TV Network, we support the right to education, study, and work for our fellow Afghan women and girls, and we use every possible opportunity and means to convey their voices to the world!
