Philippine authorities have intercepted a significant shipment of methamphetamine originating from Afghanistan, valued at approximately $5 million. The drugs were cleverly concealed inside slabs of marble and were discovered by customs and anti-narcotics agents at the Manila International Container Port .
According to the Philippine Interior Ministry, the shipment was declared in customs documents simply as marble stones to evade detection. Upon closer inspection, officers found 131 packages containing about 41 kilograms of high-grade meth hidden within the construction materials .
This incident marks another seizure of Afghan-origin drugs in the Philippines, signaling a persistent trafficking route. Regional concerns are growing as Tajik officials have also recently reported a surge in drug smuggling activities from Afghanistan across their shared borders .
