The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) has announced a targeted attack on a Taliban checkpoint at Balahisar Square in Kunduz province. According to a statement released by the group, the assault took place on Monday evening, resulting in the death of two Taliban members and leaving two others injured. Local sources confirmed hearing an explosion in the area around the same time.
This marks the second attack claimed by the AFF in Kunduz within forty-eight hours. Just a day prior, the group stated they had killed two Taliban members in the city’s first security district. The Front has released footage on social media platform X, purportedly showing the moments of the attack on the Taliban forces.
As is their usual practice regarding such incidents, the Taliban have not issued any official comment. These recurring guerilla-style attacks in major urban centers highlight the persistent security volatility in the region. Residents reported hearing heavy gunfire and blasts, causing panic in the local neighborhoods.
