Former US diplomat Zalmay Khalilzad stated that pro-IRGC Iraqi groups are allegedly being funded directly by the Iraqi government. He claims these same factions are responsible for recent unprovoked attacks on Kurdish targets and American forces.
According to Khalilzad, these militias have aggressively targeted the US embassy in Baghdad, foreign military bases in Kurdistan, and local hotels. Meanwhile, their political representatives brazenly chant "death to America" inside the Iraqi Parliament.
He strongly urged the US Administration to consider targeting these groups to permanently eliminate their offensive military capabilities. Khalilzad also demanded that Washington press Baghdad to immediately end all financial assistance given to these allied militias.
