Abdul Salam Zaeef, former Taliban ambassador to Pakistan, has proposed that Gulf states and the broader Arab world form a joint federal government to strengthen regional cooperation. He described the moment as a "golden opportunity" on the X social media platform.
Zaeef suggested that such a structure could integrate military forces, intelligence agencies, and other institutions under a shared framework. The proposal aims to coordinate a regional response to US military base presence and advance technological development among Arab nations.
The proposal comes in the wake of a joint US-Israeli strike on Iran, after which Iran retaliated by striking US bases in the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.
