Border officials from the Taliban government have strongly dismissed recent reports suggesting the Torkham border crossing would reopen on March 25. Ubaidullah Oqab Farooqi, a border police spokesperson, stated that the crucial crossing will remain entirely closed to all traffic.

Earlier, Pakistani sources had claimed the border would reopen this Wednesday. They alleged this move was intended to facilitate the deportation of undocumented Afghan migrants and was supposedly requested by the Taliban government itself.

The Taliban government has completely rejected these claims. The ongoing closure of the Torkham crossing, a major trade route between Afghanistan and Pakistan, continues to cause severe economic disruptions for local businesses and ordinary citizens.
