A number of youths in Uruzgan province report that they have completely lost their jobs due to escalating border clashes between the Taliban government and Pakistan. These young men previously earned a living by transporting commercial goods across the border.
Expressing deep concern, they state that the ongoing closure of border routes has left them entirely unemployed. According to these young citizens, there are absolutely no alternative employment opportunities available inside Afghanistan, plunging them into severe economic hardship.
Working women in the province are also complaining about rapidly shrinking job opportunities. Uruzgan is a southern province where the local economy relies heavily on cross-border trade and travel to neighboring countries.
