The Taliban government press office in Nangarhar province announced that casualties from recent floods have reached forty one dead and eighty four injured. Heavy rains from mid March to early April affected many, with women and children tragically among the victims.
Rescue teams have successfully saved hundreds of residents trapped by the rising waters. However, over two thousand homes have been damaged, and thousands of families have suffered severe financial losses. Agricultural products across fourteen thousand hectares of land have been completely destroyed.
Agriculture officials of the Taliban government report that alongside farmlands, hundreds of trees and thousands of meters of irrigation canals are ruined. Livestock losses are also substantial, with thousands of domestic animals and poultry dead due to the disaster.
