Reliable sources confirm that Abdul Hakim Hemat, the head of the public immunization department at the Taliban government's Ministry of Public Health, has been dismissed. The removal is linked to extensive financial corruption allegations during the national measles vaccination campaign.

Reports suggest that Hemat embezzled hundreds of thousands of Afghanis by using non-standard vehicles for vaccine transportation. These violations have reportedly led to the failure of a $30 million World Health Organization project in Afghanistan.

Tragically, due to these administrative failures, around 200 Afghan children have lost their lives to measles. Security forces of the Taliban government have also recently arrested several ministry officials over similar corruption charges.
