The Russian special presidential envoy for Afghanistan has announced that escalating tensions between the Taliban administration and Pakistan have delayed the implementation of Moscow backed economic projects. These significant projects include the construction of the Trans-Afghan railway and an oil refinery.

According to Zamir Kabulov, the practical work for these initiatives has not yet started and remains in the design phase. He emphasized that the ongoing conflicts have halted progress, and the current situation on the ground is not suitable for launching physical operations.

Russia intended to use this railway to gain access to the ports of the Arabian Sea. However, some economic experts are now suggesting the western route of Afghanistan as a simpler and more viable alternative for these strategic goals.
