Türk emphasized that the fundamental rights of Iranian citizens are being systematically stripped away by authorities, especially amid ongoing regional conflicts. Since the joint American and Israeli strikes on Iran began two months ago, execution rates have spiked, alongside the detention of thousands of political opponents.
The human rights chief urged Iranian officials to halt all executions immediately and guarantee fair trial processes. Reports indicate that many individuals, including ethnic minorities, face harsh sentences based on forced confessions extracted through torture, with over 4,000 detained since late February.
