Unofficial negotiations between representatives of the Taliban government and Pakistan have recently concluded in Istanbul, Turkey. The discussions were described as intense and frank, leading to preliminary agreements on crucial regional security issues.
During the meetings, negotiators focused heavily on the activities of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan and the ISIS militant group. Pakistani delegates demanded the Taliban classify the TTP as a terrorist organization, while Afghan representatives sought recognition of ISIS's presence inside Pakistan.
Although a draft agreement was reportedly finalized by the participating delegations, it remains uncertain whether the official Taliban leadership will formally endorse it. These talks addressed critical subjects including border clashes, airstrikes, and the ongoing migrant crisis.
