The International Committee of the Red Cross has announced that escalating border tensions between the Taliban government and Pakistan have triggered a severe food crisis. The road closures began following severe clashes in mid-February.

According to recent reports, approximately 136,000 residents in the Kamdesh and Barg-e-Matal districts of Nuristan province face extreme shortages of basic necessities. These remote districts were completely isolated due to the ongoing hostilities between the two neighboring forces.

The international organization has now initiated emergency relief operations to support 17,000 affected families. Observers note that the Taliban's growing restrictions on female aid workers have further exacerbated the ongoing humanitarian emergency in these isolated Afghan regions.
