Patman Amin, the wife of former Afghan President Hafizullah Amin, has passed away in Germany. The National Democratic Party of Afghanistan confirmed her death through social media, praising her as a symbol of resilience for Afghan women. The exact cause of her passing has not yet been officially announced.
Following the assassination of her husband during a Soviet military operation in December nineteen seventy nine, Patman Amin faced severe political persecution. She was arrested along with her children and spent approximately six difficult years detained in the Pul-e-Charkhi prison in Kabul.
After her release from prison, she initially migrated to Pakistan before eventually settling in Germany. Her husband was a highly controversial figure in the contemporary political history of Afghanistan.
