The Committee to Protect Journalists has stated that the arrest of TOLOnews journalists and the raid on the network's office intensify a climate of fear in Afghanistan. The organization urged the Taliban government to immediately release Mansoor Niazi and Imran Danish.
According to reports, intelligence forces of the Taliban government raided the Moby Group building following the arrests, confiscating employees' mobile phones. The committee emphasized that independent media outlets must be allowed to operate freely without interference, coercion, or intimidation from local authorities.
Media advocacy groups view these actions as part of a broader crackdown on freedom of speech in the country. Since the Taliban government took power, severe restrictions have been imposed on journalistic work, forcing many media professionals to flee Afghanistan for their safety.
