A source within the Taliban government has confirmed to the BBC that Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, Defense Minister of the Taliban government, will head the negotiating delegation for talks with Pakistan regarding recent clashes.

These negotiations are scheduled to take place in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

The composition of the Pakistani delegation has not yet been announced, but observers suggest that most of its members will likely be representatives from the country’s military and security institutions.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed readiness for negotiations and stated that he has proposed Qatar mediate to end tensions and recent clashes with the Taliban government.

Following Wednesday’s clashes between Taliban and Pakistani forces at the Spin Boldak border and aerial bombardment of Kabul, both sides agreed to a 48-hour ceasefire.

Pakistani officials confirmed that in Wednesday’s clash with the Afghan Taliban, four of the country’s border forces were killed in Chaman and five others were wounded.
