Local sources confirmed that tensions between residents and forces of the Taliban government over control of mines in Badakhshan province are still ongoing. Locals are demanding the withdrawal of forces linked to a local commander from their lands.
These severe clashes, which erupted over poppy fields and mining operations in the form of armed resistance, have resulted in significant casualties. So far, at least four people have been killed and over thirty others injured across various districts.
Local residents remain on high alert and have blocked several communication routes. A provincial governor of the Taliban government has traveled to the area to resolve this crisis, but no breakthrough has been achieved yet.
