Tajikistan officials have announced an ambitious plan to completely modernize their border infrastructure with Afghanistan by the year 2030. This extensive security initiative will be executed in close cooperation with the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

The strategic plan includes the deployment of thermal cameras, surveillance drones, and a significant increase in the number of border guards. Furthermore, the Tajik government intends to construct approximately 200 kilometers of new fencing along the border with the Taliban administration.

Security concerns in Tajikistan have escalated dramatically since the Taliban administration regained power in neighboring Afghanistan. Tajik authorities hope that these robust fortifications, along with enhanced border coordination with Kyrgyzstan, will successfully minimize the risk of future border conflicts.
