Officials from the Collective Security Treaty Organization state that the situation in Afghanistan remains a primary source of security threats in the region. This pressing issue was discussed during the recent Council of Defense Ministers meeting chaired by Russia.
The Secretary General of the organization emphasized that the military and political situation in Eurasia is becoming increasingly complex. Alongside the war in Ukraine and the Middle East crisis, he highlighted Afghanistan as a significant factor of instability due to extremist group activities.
During the summit, defense ministers stressed the need for enhanced coordination among member states to counter these rising challenges. Several documents were also approved to develop joint military cooperation, troop training programs, and air defense units by the year 2027.
