Iranian state media have reported that the country's supreme leader agreed to pardon or reduce the sentences of over two thousand prisoners. This administrative decision will lead to the release of a large portion of local inmates in the coming days.

However, human rights organizations have highlighted that Humaira Sharifi, an Afghan citizen, remains completely excluded from this pardon. This Afghan woman was violently arrested during last year's widespread protests in Iran and unjustly sentenced to five years in prison.

Reports indicate that this vulnerable Afghan prisoner lacks adequate medical and psychological care inside Evin prison. International organizations have consistently expressed deep concern regarding the mistreatment and poor conditions of Afghan citizens detained in Iranian prisons.
