The World Food Programme has announced that Afghanistan continues to struggle with rising inflation and a severe lack of employment opportunities. According to their latest assessment, the annual inflation rate climbed to over eight percent in April.

The organization highlighted that despite the relative stability of the Afghan currency, the costs of food, transportation, and housing have noticeably increased. Regional tensions and disrupted trade routes have significantly contributed to these higher consumer prices.

Purchasing power has drastically declined, leaving many Afghan families unable to meet their basic daily needs. The influx of returning migrants has further intensified job competition, adding extra financial pressure on local households.
