A fresh round of the polio vaccination campaign is set to begin soon in the southern provinces of Kandahar and Helmand. This critical health initiative aims to protect vulnerable Afghan children from the dangerous and paralyzing poliovirus.
According to health officials, the campaign will be implemented in Kandahar city, Lashkargah, and several key districts including Musa Qala and Nad-e-Ali. Health authorities strongly urge all families in these regions to vaccinate their children under the age of five.
Afghanistan and Pakistan remain the only two countries globally where polio has not been entirely eradicated. The recording of several positive human and environmental cases this year continues to raise serious concerns regarding pediatric public health in the country.
