Local sources have confirmed that a woman and a young man drowned and tragically lost their lives in two separate incidents in the Kunar River. These heartbreaking events occurred on Sunday afternoon as temperatures continue to rise.
According to the reports, the deceased woman was the wife of a Taliban government member; she drowned in the center of Kunar province, and her body is yet to be recovered. In the other incident in Ghaziabad district, the young man's body was successfully retrieved and handed over to his family.
As the intense summer heat wave strikes Afghanistan, the number of drowning fatalities in rivers and water dams has significantly increased. Disaster management authorities report that dozens of Afghan citizens have lost their lives to drowning in recent months.
