A two-day ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on women's rights is being held in Islamabad. Representatives from fifty-seven Islamic countries and various international observers are participating in this significant gathering.

The primary goal is to review progress in women's rights and expand their political and economic participation. However, the Taliban government has not yet formally confirmed whether they will send a delegation to attend.

Human rights activists have strongly urged attendees not to ignore the severe educational and employment restrictions facing Afghan women. The OIC has repeatedly called for the immediate lifting of all restrictions on women in Afghanistan.
