The Baloch Liberation Army conducted a daring operation, stopping the Jaffar Express train en route from Quetta to Peshawar, taking 182 passengers hostage. The group claims to have killed at least 20 Pakistani soldiers in the attack, although Pakistani authorities have not yet confirmed these casualties.
According to Jiyand Baloch, the group’s spokesperson, the hostages include security personnel from the army, police, and ISI. He emphasized that civilian passengers, including women, children, and the elderly, have been released and transferred to a safe location.
Local authorities in Balochistan Province have declared a state of emergency, with Sibi Hospital on high alert. According to Shahid Rind, Balochistan’s spokesperson, security forces are facing difficulties accessing the incident site due to the rocky terrain.
