UN Women has issued a stark warning that international aid cuts and ongoing restrictions by the Taliban government are driving Afghan women-led organizations toward a severe financial crisis. Many of these essential groups are now facing the imminent risk of permanent closure.
A recent survey revealed that nearly three quarters of these organizations experienced significant funding reductions this year. Consequently, a vast majority have been forced to downsize their staff, severely limiting their ability to provide critical healthcare, protection, and livelihood support to vulnerable communities.
The potential collapse of these groups would drastically reduce access to life-saving services for countless Afghan women and girls. UN Women is urgently calling on international donors to sustain and expand financial support to prevent further humanitarian disasters across the nation.
