The rising prices of gas and oil across various provinces in Afghanistan have created significant hardships for citizens. Residents in Kabul, Herat, and Badghis report a sharp increase in the cost of liquefied gas, making it unaffordable for many ordinary families.
The Taliban government oil and gas company fixed the price of gas at seventy Afghanis per kilogram, warning strict action against violators. However, locals complain that actual market prices in remote areas remain much higher than the officially announced rates.
Regional tensions and a decrease in fuel exports from countries like Russia are considered the main reasons for this price surge. Afghanistan consumes tens of thousands of barrels of petroleum products daily, relying almost entirely on fuel imports from neighboring nations.
