The Taliban government authorities announced that Azizi Energy has procured the necessary technical equipment for a planned 10,000-megawatt electricity generation program. These essential materials will soon be transported to Afghanistan to accelerate the development of domestic energy projects.

A meeting between Mirwais Azizi and Abdul Ghani Baradar, the Taliban government deputy chief minister for economic affairs, reviewed the progress. A joint technical committee reported that power purchase agreements have been signed for three solar power plants located in Kabul, Parwan, and Ghazni provinces.

Technical discussions are also ongoing regarding coal-fired power plants in Takhar and Baghlan provinces. Afghanistan heavily relies on imported electricity, and the Taliban government is currently prioritizing the expansion of domestic power generation to address the country's chronic energy shortages.
