The World Health Organization announced that it is working with partners to provide emergency health services for populations affected by the recent flash floods in Nuristan province. This includes critical care for the injured and vulnerable individuals.
The organization reported twenty-three fatalities and fifteen injuries resulting from this deadly natural disaster. However, search and rescue operations are still ongoing as several individuals remain missing in the devastated areas.
WHO has warned that the casualty toll could rise further. Meanwhile, a UN spokesperson highlighted that severe road damage and logistical difficulties are significantly hindering the delivery of essential relief supplies to the affected communities.
