Local authorities in Nangarhar province reported that five members of a single family died when their house tragically collapsed. The devastating incident occurred in the Afghan Mina neighborhood of Jalalabad city on Thursday evening.
Sediqullah Quraishi, a Taliban government official for information and culture, stated that severe rainfall caused the old structure to fall. A father and his young sons lost their lives, while another family member was seriously injured in the rubble.
Recent heavy rains and subsequent floods across multiple Afghan provinces have caused massive human casualties and heavy financial losses. In addition to taking lives, the severe weather has completely destroyed crucial regional highways and local roads.
