Sahar Arian, a university student, says she has developed severe depression due to the educational bans imposed by the Taliban administration. She dreamed of becoming a doctor but is now entirely deprived of pursuing her higher education.
Her mother explains that being confined to their home and kept away from classrooms has made her daughter completely isolated. She adds that Sahar now stays awake throughout the night and spends her days sleeping instead.
Five years after educational institutions were closed to girls in Afghanistan, millions of young women still face an uncertain future. The Taliban administration continues to ignore international calls to end this deprivation.
