Fazlur Rehman, leader of Pakistan’s Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, stated in a gathering in Mardan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, that Pakistan’s policy towards Afghanistan has “failed” over the past 78 years, as the country has not managed to make Afghanistan its friend.

He stressed that war is not the solution and called for a review of policies to achieve regional peace.

He added that armed groups are blocking good relations between the two countries and insisted there should be no war between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Fazlur Rehman also urged the Taliban group to play a role in resolving the issues and emphasized that his party does not support militancy in Pakistan.

These remarks come amid rising tensions between Islamabad and the Taliban group, with Pakistani officials revealing that a planned military operation was halted due to Qatari mediation.
