The Taliban government police command in Badakhshan province confirmed the assassination of their director of information and culture. Security forces quickly responded to the attack, resulting in one assailant being killed and another captured alive.
Ehsanullah Kamgar, a spokesperson for the local police, stated that the incident occurred on Tuesday morning. The attackers were riding a motorcycle when they ambushed the official, prompting immediate return fire from his well-trained bodyguards.
The underlying motive for this targeted killing remains unclear at this stage. Security personnel from the Taliban government have launched an intensive investigation and are currently interrogating the detained suspect to uncover further details and find the masterminds.
