The Taliban government police command in Badakhshan province has arrested a married couple accused of kidnapping two infants from a hospital in Faizabad. The suspects were caught red-handed while attempting to steal a third newborn baby.
Reports indicate that the female suspect disguised herself in a nurse's uniform to easily move around the hospital and take the babies away from their mothers. Fortunately, the two previously abducted children have been safely reunited with their real parents.
Local authorities confirmed that medical DNA tests proved the couple had no biological relation to the rescued infants. During their interrogation, the arrested husband and wife claimed they committed the crimes simply because they were unable to have children.
