The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced that between July 19 and August 1, more than 100,368 people returned to Afghanistan from Iran and Pakistan.
Of this number, 55,631 came from Pakistan and 44,737 from Iran. During the same period, 42,904 people left Afghanistan.
IOM noted that nearly two-thirds of those returning from Iran reported being forcibly deported, adding further strain to Afghanistan's already fragile economy and labor market.
