Govinda revealed in a recent interview that during the filming of Partner (2007), he told Salman Khan he did not look like a hero. He urged Salman to lose weight and pull himself out of a difficult phase in his personal life.
Govinda said Salman had become very withdrawn at the time. He sat with him and honestly told him that he possessed the aura and personality of a true hero, but needed to reclaim it by focusing on himself.
Salman took the advice, trained consistently for two to three hours daily, and went on to dominate the film industry for years. Govinda himself is now returning to the screen with suspense thriller Roopa and drama Duniyadari.
