The Taliban's Ministry of Justice announced that a special court for land seizure cases has declared approximately 300 jeribs of land in the Mayar Mina township in Mazar-e-Sharif, Balkh province, as "Emirate property." The land is located in the Qala-e-Hajari area of the ninth district of Mazar-e-Sharif.
The special court, after reviewing documents from current occupants and real estate offices, also issued an order for the land to be returned from current holders to the Taliban. The commission operates under the leadership of Taliban Justice Minister Abdul Hakim Sharai.
Current landowners claim the rulings are ethnically and politically motivated, stating they purchased the land from private owners with state court approval. In recent weeks, the Taliban also issued eviction orders for two Hazara-populated townships in Kabul and Ghazni.
