New details have emerged about the killing of Hasib Panjshiri, a National Resistance Front commander. He was traveling with seven others in two Toyota Hilux vehicles from Panjshir toward Andrab when they were ambushed.
Sources say resistance fighters had checked the route beforehand and believed it was safe. However, the Taliban learned of their movement and set an ambush in the Northern Salang pass. All four occupants of the first vehicle were killed.
Panjshiri, also known as "Hasib Quwai Markaz," was a military commander of the NRF led by Ahmad Massoud. The fate of his three companions in the second vehicle remains unknown. The NRF confirmed his death on Thursday.
