Taliban forces prevented Panjshir residents from attending the funeral of Hasib Panjshiri, a National Resistance Front commander killed in a Taliban ambush. Sources say around a thousand people had gathered to pay their respects.
According to a close source, Taliban members kept attendees at a distance of 500 meters and did not allow anyone to approach the burial site. Hasib Panjshiri was killed last Thursday in a Taliban ambush in the North Salang area along with several companions.
The incident highlights the increasing pressure Taliban forces are placing on Panjshir residents. Resistance against Taliban rule in the province continues.
