In a lengthy and aggressive social media post, Donald Trump sharply criticized the Norwegian Nobel Committee for not awarding him the Nobel Peace Prize. He claimed to know nothing about this year's winner, accusing her of "very obviously" hating Israel.
In the post, Trump listed eight "wars" he claims to have settled, including conflicts between Pakistan and India, Israel and Hamas, and Serbia and Kosovo. "I should have won 8 Nobel Peace Prizes, not just 1," he wrote. He also claimed to be in the process of settling the Russia/Ukraine war and the issue with Iran.
The former U.S. president also pointed to other accomplishments he claims to have achieved, such as "stopping Iran from having a Nuclear Weapon," "saving more lives than anyone in History," getting all hostages back from Israel, and forcing NATO countries to increase their defense spending.
He quoted Venezuelan opposition figure Maria Corina Machado, who Trump claims gave him her Nobel Prize from last year, as saying, "Donald Trump settled many Wars, and deserves the Nobel Peace Prize more than any person that has ever received it."
Concluding his message, Trump described the awarding of the prize to this year's recipient as "an indelible stain on Norway" and stated that the Nobel "Peace" Prize has been "forever discredited by a handful of Radical Ideologues who are Anti-Democracy, and Enemies of Civilization!" This harsh reaction reflects Trump's deep dissatisfaction with international institutions and his belief that his achievements have not been sufficiently recognized.
