The Taliban's Ministry of Interior has announced that security forces arrested four individuals on charges of armed robbery in the Koh-e-Zor district of Herat province. The ministry stated in a press release that the operation was conducted following complaints from local residents.

According to the ministry, the arrested individuals are accused of being involved in stealing property and livestock from local people, creating fear and terror among the residents of the district by using weapons. Some weapons and stolen goods were also seized from them.

Local Taliban officials in Herat said the detainees have been handed over to judicial authorities for further investigation, and their cases are under review. They pledged to deal severely with any criminal activity and lawlessness.

This arrest comes as reports of increased criminal activity due to widespread poverty and unemployment have emerged from various parts of the country since the Taliban's return to power. The Taliban government has often tried to project an image of being in control of the security situation by publicizing such operations.

Koh-e-Zor is a remote district in Herat province that sometimes faces security challenges due to its geographical location. Local residents have welcomed this action by the Taliban forces and called for permanent security in the area.

The Taliban government claims that the level of criminal offenses has decreased across the country compared to the past. However, human rights organizations and some media outlets have published differing reports on the matter, expressing concern about the lack of transparency in handling criminal cases.
